Sharaf Travel successfully migrates to Amadeus platform

Key benefits include service differentiation, reduced cost and preferred content.

Sharaf Travel has seamlessly migrated and has gone live on Amadeus global distribution platform. The successful move follows a three-year partnership agreement the two companies signed in January this year.

One of the largest travel agency in the UAE, Sharaf Travel now has full access to Amadeus’ broad range of front office and e-commerce solutions across all its outlets in Dubai, Jebel Ali, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and implant office in many corporations.

The ability to provide flexible, advanced and scalable travel solutions along with a thorough understanding of the local market were some of the key requirements for Sharaf Travel’s business. Amadeus’ global reach, broad portfolio of solutions, skilled staff, coupled with demonstrated leadership in the local market were the deciding factor for Sharaf Travel to choose Amadeus as their technology partner.

The migration process covering Sharaf Travel’s offices in UAE and Oman was smoothly executed over a period of three months involving a team of 25 staff who oversaw the successful migration of 22,000 PNRs from Sharaf Travel’s previous GDS provider.

Additionally, 106 Sharaf Travel employees were given a comprehensive classroom and on-location training on using Amadeus technology, accounting for more than 300 hours, and assisted by 18 on-site support specialists.

“The travel and tourism industry is driven by new technology and as a fast-growing travel agency we understand the importance of collaborating with competent technology providers who have a proven track record. In this regard Amadeus has been consistently at the cutting edge of developments. We evaluated the different GDS options available in the market and found Amadeus to be the right fit. The move offers us greater value, better returns on investment and meets our business and customer service objectives,” said Mr. V Jayaram, Managing Director, Sharaf Travel.

The travel solutions deployed include Amadeus Selling Platform, a point of sales solution designed to improve a travel agent’s efficiency and increase the sales of non-air products, and value added products such as Amadeus Value Pricer, a powerful shopping product that provides the best available domestic and international fares in seconds, Amadeus Quality Control, Amadeus HX Killer and Amadeus Agency Internet Engine (e-power), the most comprehensive online booking solution available.

Ghulam Al Baloushi, Managing Director, Amadeus Gulf, said, “Amadeus is committed to supporting the needs of the local travel agencies, help them optimize revenues and improve their profitability. Our partnership with Sharaf Travel further reinforces our commitment and we are positioned strongly to support the agencies’ unique business needs. Our industry leading technology solutions help customers to maximize revenue from existing channels and tap into new ones, keeping their businesses successful both now and in the future.”
